Something I was not expecting today was Boston Manor dropping a new song, but they've only gone and done it, along with announcing a brand new album coming in September titled 'Sundiver'. Although it's not the follow up to 'Datura' that was teased, the track-list has also been released, and the opening track is instead called 'Datura: Dawn'. I am so excited for this record to be released, not only because Boston Manor are at the top of their game so far, but they're evolving into this new heavier sound that I'm really enjoying. So, let's get into this brand new track by Boston Manor, 'HEAT ME UP'.

The feedback that opens this song is a precursor to the insane guitar riffs and Boston Manor signature sound that opens this track up. The drums are all on the hi-hat and vocals, with delayed picked riffs underneath. Cox is again singing at his best, in the chorus he brings his voice to all his extremes, both his crushing shout and his insane high register. This track sounds so much like Boston Manor, it really feels like this song is something these guys are really proud of, and you can tell because this screams Boston Manor in every way. The hidden melody lines adding that edge to the vocals, the bridge that slows things down just slightly and makes you really listen to the vocals and lyrics before slamming straight back into that chaos of the chorus again. This is just a good sounding track, the way the low end is grunting way back in the mix, just underpinning the more glassy and reverbed guitar, with the cymbals and higher end guitars slicing through the mix, it's an impressive display of what this band is capable of. Maybe a touch safe, and not exactly breaking any insane new ground, but when you compare it to the other two singles off this new record 'Sundiver' they couldn't be more different, with 'Container' being an insanely paced intro to this new sound, 'Sliding Doors' really proving that heavier extreme, and this one placing itself right in the middle of those two poles, it makes me so hyped for this brand new record, and to see where this band takes themselves next.
