We're back on the W.O.R.N grind. Thought you'd be interested as to what I've been listening to recent after talking about what I had on repeat in August last year. My listening habits have changed pretty considerably, and I thought it would both be cool for people to read, whilst also keeping a track on what's been on my radar. I'm also using a fun little site called Spotistats to see some cool stats and numbers, so hopefully this one will be a little more cogent than my last, which was just the stuff I was into at the time. So, with that in mind, here's What's On Repeat Now #2.
Genres
Let's take a peek at the Genres that I've been listening to most. Spotistats says my main five genres over the past four weeks are;
Modern Rock
Rock
Pop-Punk
Punk
Pov:Indie
This is pretty usual to be honest. Rock and Pop-Punk are always mainstays, as well as Punk and Mod-Rock, which of course are going to overlap through tracks and bands. Pov:Indie is a little left field, but as I listen to some newer tracks from my Spotify exploration playlists I'm sure it's bled in from time to time.
Songs
Yes - these images are painfully low res, and for that I can only apologise, but they work just about. Let's have a peek at what's going on here then. First off, I think it speaks to how much I love Overcompensate that even just five days after it's release it's already my number one track for the past four weeks. The Outside is also a bop that I've been enjoying, but have also been learning the bassline for it, so that one being at No.6 makes so much sense. I've also been enjoying their MTV Unplugged record, so Tear in My Heart at 10 is cool, they're reinvention of their music in this record is beautiful, and r4eally proves them as musical masterminds. Sleep Token is also a mainstay here at No.2 and 7. I've been really vibing with Dark Signs recently, and The Apparition keeps getting stuck in my head, and every time I play it the itch is scratched. Boston Manor is also steady at No.2 and 3, the hype for seeing them live next month is growing and growing, and their new track Container is a certified banger. Green Day are also sneaking in - I have no clue why the album art on Dilemma is like that but here we are. Saviours as a whole is still getting a lot of play from me, it's just good solid rock music that I can enjoy in my day to day, so no issues there. Some interesting one offs from Ray Bull at No.8, surprising entry from Harry Styles at No.9 but It's the song i play a lot when my housemates are in the car, and Blink-182 at No.12.
Artists
Again, no surprises here. Top six here is really conventional after seeing my top tracks, bar Fall Out Boy, who I'm always listening to on my playlists. Recently its been Music or the Misery from the extended version of From Under the Cork Tree so go blast that if you haven't heard it already. The bottom line is a bit more of a shocker for me. I can say steadily I hardly listen to The 1975 these days. When my housemates are around and I'm playing music in the kitchen is where this comes from I reckon, probably the same with Neck Deep - as I rarely listen to them anymore. Peirce the Veil is slowly coming back for me, not only am I seeing them live this year but I'm also in love with The Jaws of Life so will continue coming back to it as often as possible, as well as classics like Bulletproof Love. The last few are also pretty standard, Movements are always in my rotation with tracks like Daylilly and Tightrope being blasted, Peep is also on my rotation every now and again, especially when I'm feeling the vibe. Slipknot are a classic, and I'm getting back into their stuff every now and again, and I'm catching myself in a good Slipknot mood.
Recieptify - Last Month
Recieptify is a funky tool that makes more 'aesthetic' receipts of your top songs too - this one was for last month specifically, whereas Spotistats is more of an overall look at the past four weeks give or take. It looks pretty much the same, bar Overcompensate which was not released when I downloaded this picture, and a couple of Sleep Token tracks filling up some other spots.
So, there we go. Another W.O.R.N done, and it's nice to see my taste changing and adapting. I like the new look it has too, and Spotistats is really useful to see your listening habits too. I'll do another one of these down the line, and we'll compare and contrast. See you in the next one.
