Just weeks away from the release of Breach, and we have a brand new single from Ohio duo Twenty One Pilots. Teased over a number of days over on their social media, it was also noted that legendary drummer Josh Dunn would be adding to this track in an unexpected way - which had fans waiting with bated breath for the release. Let's talk about their brand new record Drum Show, shall we?

To sum this track up like a lot of fans online have - this song is a more upbeat version of Car Radio, just written about Josh Dunn. The track has yet another solidly chunky bassline ripping through it, similar to Navigating that gets you hooked straight into the action before the drums crash to life. Vibrant and pacy whilst keeping that emotive flare in his voice, Tyler Joseph sings delicately over the hardcore instrumental, seemingly hinting to a tumultuous home life for the usually reserved drummer - causing him to take solace in his music. It's a brilliant play with juxtapositional song writing - that crunchy distorted bass and hefty drum tone, with a softer melody over the top. Joseph also puts his higher vocal range on show during the chorus, which builds brilliantly and naturally over it's run.

After another verse and chorus, we're met with the vocal stylings of Mr. Josh Dunn - and you know what, he has some lungs on him. From what we've seen on the Clancy Tour, we knew he could sing, and this small bridge proves it even more. It seems like a form of admission, like he's acknowledging this song is about him, his feelings of being 'stuck between a rock and a home' and wanting to change his lifestyle. It's a heart on sleeve moment, truly vulnerable, and gets you right in the gut.

Then Joseph's screams smash in to one of, if not the heaviest and most filthy breakdowns in Twenty One Pilots history. Feeling more like a mid section of a Boston Manor track, it rages on to a final chorus, with those vibrato notes being replaced by the frontmans intense extremes. It descends from a place of calm to once again sheer and utter chaos, and it's a delight to hear. This song is a journey, both emotional and awe inspiring, and is a reminder that this band will never loose their sense of fun, or their sense of adventure. If anyone was in any doubt that Breach may not live up to their already impressive discography, listen to this again - and tell me with a straight face this song isn't one of the best to come out of Twenty One Pilots' studio since Vessel. I'll wait. Seriously.
